Hi everyone, my name is
Hector Picard and I am a double arm amputee triathlete from South
Florida. Since 2009 I have competed in 52 triathlons throughout the
country. I was electrocuted while on the job with 13,000 volts of
electricity in 1992. I've never let my physical obstacles stop me from
living my life to the fullest.
On May 25 through June 9, 2012, I will ride from my home in Fort
Lauderdale, Florida to New York City; almost 1500 miles cycling, 85 -
100 miles per day. I will pick up cycling companions along the way,
some of which are fellow physically challenged athletes who I will be
interviewing. In addition, we will be filming a documentary that will
chronicle the journey. Any and all bike situations that arise including
flats I will tackle unassisted. I will be speaking at schools and
hospitals as well as tell my store through radio, TV and print
interviews.
I am doing this to commemorate 20 years since I was given a second
chance at life and to raise awareness and funds for the I Will
Foundation (www.iwillfoundation.com). This organization helps
physically challenged individuals realize their athletic goals through
financial assistance, equipment and coaching. Because of their
generosity, they are making it possible for me to compete at this years
inaugural NYC Ironman (2.4m swim - 112m bike - 26.2m run, all in one
day) on August 11, 2012.
If you would like to help me on this journey, please click the donate

As always, thank you for your support and all your
positive thoughts!
We need your financial support
to create
this feature documentary.
